The Care for the Mums

At the end of the Summer when Fall was approaching, it would be time to start shading the Mums – in order to trick them into blooming a bit earlier (making them think it was getting darker earlier). Richard would wake up early and then remove the shades. The shades sat on top of the white frames you see above. As kids, we never knew which of the beautiful Mums would sprout out – it was always a wonderful surprise. Richard would win many awards over the years at Mums shows.
